Western Sydney Primary Health Network - Workshop 1

On Thursday we had the tremendous privilege of kicking off the first systems modelling workshop of the ‘Right care, first time, where you live’ Program with the Western Sydney Primary Health Network (PHN). The Western Sydney PHN collaborated with us to coordinate the workshop and they did a tremendous job of rallying the youth mental health community and encouraging them to participate in the day.

At the workshop it was really great to see so many young people with lived experience representing their community and having a voice in the systems modelling process. Hearing their stories and learning about their journeys through the youth mental health system in the region has been invaluable and will help our systems modelling team create a model that accurately reflects the system.

It was also great to see so many mental health professionals, psychologists, GPs, NSW Department of Education representatives share their knowledge and insights about the system. Their engagement in the systems mapping process has ensured that we now have a detailed understanding of the youth mental health system in the region that accurately reflects the multifaceted nature of the system.

Improving the youth mental health system is at the heart of the ‘Right care, first time, where you live’ Program and the youth engagement in Western Sydney PHN was incredible. We’d like to thank the Western Sydney PHN team for leading and encouraging that engagement.
